The Essence is that part of the Prime Material Plane which gives mages their power. The Essence covered and cooled the star until it was no longer in danger of exploding, and burrowed a hole to the center, where it would grow and flourish within. The Essence is the subconcious thoughts of all the gods, whether they wish to be a part of it or not, and because the Essence created life, they are truly related to mortals and all living things on Welstar. The Essence is sometimes worshipped as a deity by the Khazarins, who call it Ensof.
